Insulin Resistance

Insulin Resistance

  1. A resistance to the hormone insulin, resulting in increasing blood sugar.
  2. The hormone insulin helps control the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood.
  3. With insulin resistance, the body’s cells don’t respond normally to insulin.
  4. Glucose can’t enter the cells as easily, so it builds up in the blood.
  5. This can eventually lead to type 2 diabetes.
  6. Insulin resistance typically has no symptoms.
  7. Symptoms can be related to being overweight or obese
